Ubuntu Karmic Koala has a strange fart-like sound enabled, that goes off under tab-completion in the terminal and other events.

It's the sound of the soundcard waking from suspend. It's a really loud sound which is very irritating, especially when listening through headphones.

To disable:

1. Run compizconfig settings manager:

   $ ccsm

2. General > General Options
3. Untick Audible Bell
