The Universal's RAM can be upgraded to 128MB from its 64MB. If you highly technically skilled, you can perform the upgrade in line with <a href="http://sumou.com/uni/vebu/xda-developers-128mb-upgrade.html">this guide</a>, originally found <a href="http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_128MBRAM">here</a>. Otherwise there is a number of shops worldwide, that will perform the upgrade for you.</p>

I got mine done at <a href="http://www.srsgmbh.de/">SRS in Germany</a>. It took two weeks to receive the Unit back.</p>

The upgrade is definitely worth it, as there is a significant improvement in running GNU/Linux on the Universal. Now emacs runs aside conkeror web browser without any swap, snappily.</p>

When you upgrade, you need to use a Universal kernel patched for 128MB to properly suspend and resume, the unpatched 64MB kernel will not resume your Universal from suspend. <!— Page published by Emacs Muse ends here —> </div> <i>To send me feedback about this page, use the below email.</i><br /> <b>&copy; sumoudou.org 2010</b><br /> <img style="border:0" alt="sumoudou.org" src="email.gif" width="129" height="10" /><br /> <a href="http://www.gnu.org/" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="GNU" src="powered-by-gnu.png" />]] <a href="http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/emacs.html" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="GNU Emacs" src="made-with-emacs.png" />]] <a href="http://hcoop.net/" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="HCoop" src="hcoop-proud-member.png" />]] <a href="http://hcoop.net/" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="HCoop" src="hosted-by-hcoop.png" />]] <a href="http://mwolson.org/projects/EmacsMuse.html" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="Emacs Muse" src="made-with-muse.png" />]] <a href="http://mwolson.org/projects/EmacsMuse.html" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="Emacs Muse" src="powered-by-muse.png" />]] <br /> <a href="http://www.fsf.org/resources/formats/playogg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="Ogg" src="play-ogg.png" />]] <a href="http://www.catb.org/hacker-emblem/" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="Glider" src="glider.png" />]] <a href="http://ubuntu.com/" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="Ubuntu" src="ubuntu.png" />]] <a href="http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=referer" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict!" src="valid-xhtml10-blue.png" />]] <a href="http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/check/referer" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="border:0" alt="Valid CSS!" src="valid-css-blue.png" />]] <br />Last updated January 10, 2010
